This event will now also take place with the Veteran Fishing event. It will be a great day for every one!

It is an event guaranteed to provide a wonderful free day of nonstop joy for children and their families. A day full of nature and fishing, games, and so much more, in a safe and loving environment. Doreen Riegal, Transition Coordinator for Holmdel public schools commented, "I loved working with all the kids last year at The Kids Wishin' to go Fishin' event. Learning to fish is such a great way to teach all children that they have the ability with determination and practice, to 'reel in the big one'!"

The event is a catch and release with barbless hooks in a lake that is well stocked by Cardinale with a variety of fish including large mouth bass, blue gills, crappie, channel catfish, and other warm water species. There are loaner rods and reels along with free bait and rigs.

Bring your appetite because there will be hamburgers, hot dogs, pizza and more. There are loads of surprises and prizes for every child.

Volunteer anglers from various organizations will assist children and their families with baiting, hooks, releasing hooked fish, setting up tackle... Last year, Bob Hopkins who volunteered along with club members of Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 12 said,  "The smiles from the children, parents and caregivers was amazing. Everyone was having so much fun." Every child was able to catch and release at least one fish, some youngsters had the opportunity to catch their first fish and for that received a "First Fish Award" certificate.
