Riverview Medical Center Sets the Table to Honor Fallen Military Heroes in Memorial Day Ceremony

Wayne M. Boatwright VP Diversity and Inclusion, Hackensack Meridian Health

Red Bank, NJ: Riverview Medical Center hosted a very special ceremony on Wednesday, May 23, to honor all veterans with special recognition for fallen military heroes and their loved ones. At the front of the room for all to view was a table set for the unknown soldier.  The set table was met with an empty chair, a reminder to everyone present that Memorial Day is about those who have given the ultimate sacrifice so that we may have our freedom.

Special recognition was given to fallen military hero PFC Gary Lentz of the U.S. Army, whose family member Susan P. Hanrahan, is a team member of Hackensack Meridian Health. The event began with welcoming remarks from Dave Robinson, Site Manager, Materials Management at Hackensack Meridian Health Jersey Shore University Medical Center.  Robinson is a retired MSG of the US Air Force. Robinson, as seen and heard in the following video link, thanked the administration of Riverview Medical Center for hosting the event and introduced the Sayreville War Memorial High School Air Force, JROTC  Honor Guard for the Posting of the Colors and Presentation of Arms.

Herman commented, "We lift up and remember especially the men and women of this nation who have made the ultimate sacrifice for us, given their lives to maintain our freedoms. We give thanks to the families and friends of those who have given their lives and we thank them for the sacrifices they have endured for us."

Tim Hogan, President of Hackensack Meridian Health Riverview Medical Center and Hackensack Meridian Health Bayshore Medical Center explained in detail the symbolic meaning of the 'laying of the wreath' and the 'set table for the unknown soldier.
