HOLMDEL, NJ - On July 10th, attendees of the “Red, White and Boom” fireworks spectacular at Holmdel’s Bell Works complex were treated to the equally colorful (and far more delicious) cupcakes from the House of Cupcakes, a crowned champion of the Food Network.

The House of Cupcakes’ food truck offered its customers cupcakes in twelve flavors, ranging from classics like red velvet to more nouveau delicacies like marshmallow frosted, graham cracker dusted s’mores and coconut snowball. The latter cupcake was topped with buttercream frosting and rolled in sweet, flaky coconut — a true tropical vacation for the taste buds.

House of Cupcakes’ distinctive polka dot covered truck has been in operation for four years now. It can be found at major events all over the tristate area, from Laurita Winery to the Borough of Glass Festival Artwalk.
In addition to the publicity gained from its truck, House of Cupcakes has gained fame from the popular Food Network show, Cupcake Wars. In 2011, Ruthie and Ron Bzweda, owners of House of Cupcakes’ original Princeton location, competed against three other teams to see who could make the best cupcake from unusual ingredients. In one round, the teams had to make a cupcake with German classics — beer and sauerkraut. Ron joked, “Unfortunately we can’t sell that one in the store.” The final round had the finalists make a thousand cupcakes for a truly special occasion: Circus Du Soleil’s album release party for its Los Angeles show, “Viva Elvis.” House of Cupcakes was able to win over the judges with its mouthwatering oatmeal-raisin cupcakes coated in orange cream cheese icing. (The recipe for this winning cupcake can be found on Food Network’s website: https://www.foodnetwork.com/ recipes/winning-recipe-oatmeal-raisin-cupcakes-orange-cream-cheese-icing-recipe-1923163)

Since its win, House of Cupcakes has grown to four store locations. Three are located in New Jersey: Princeton, Clifton, and East Brunswick. Its newest store is located over 6,000 miles away in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. Each of its stores offers over 35 flavors to suit all tastes, including gluten free, sugar free, and vegan. If you can’t come to a store, don’t worry! Its food truck is regularly at events all over the Jersey Shore. To see the upcoming events the truck will be at, you can check out House of Cupcakes’ website, houseofcupcakes.com, or follow its various social media accounts on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter.
