2018 is the Year of the Dog and the event was as spectacular as previous years. Dancing the ancient dances. Celebrating the culture and expressing warm hospitality to invited guests. Performers read poetry, solved riddles and exhibited chinese martial arts. In the spirit of community, hosts of invited guests were invited up on the stage to dance together in unity. They certainly did their best to follow along with the choreographer.

Ancient and beautiful song video can be viewed here (3 minutes):

The event began at 1:30 and was quickly exciting. Dragon teams danced about and wound through the entire theater. Running up and down the theater passing so many in the community that attended. There were residents and guests and family members of the many talented performers. Dignitaries came from all around the area including local, county and state officials. Newly appointed Freeholder Gerald Sharfenberger was in attendance from Middletown as well. He was sworn into office only hours before the event.

Various presentations and speeches lauded the Jersey Shore Chinese School. It spoke to  the importance of chinese cultural heritage and the value that programming such as that available through the Jersey Shore Chinese School is important to Holmdel and surrounding towns.
