HOLMDEL, NJ: On the morning of graduation day which was Thursday, June 13th,  the Holmdel High School Class of 2019 took a walk through all of the hallways of the Holmdel district’s schools to commemorate the journey that led them to reach graduation day.

On Thursday morning the senior class boarded school buses wearing their caps and gowns, and visited Village School (grades PK-3), Indian Hill School (grades 4-6) and the William R. Satz School (grades 7-8) to process through the hallways, symbolically retracing their K-12 footsteps.  Schools across the country have started practicing this tradition, with the idea that the “Senior Walk” will inspire younger students to succeed in school and achieve their dreams. This is the third year Holmdel’s soon-to-be-graduates took the “Senior Walk.” As the students entered the Village Elementary School there were children lining the path and blowing bubbles for the sea of blue as they entered the building. Once inside, the class of 2019 walked the same hallways that most of them shared four years of learning and growing, laughing and creating.

The “Senior Walk” is an opportunity for the entire school community to participate in the district’s “send off” of its graduates. Students and staff in each of the schools lined the hallways to cheer on the Class of 2019 and many young students were seen raising their hands to high-five the seniors. There were many emotional moments in all of the schools as many seniors reunited with their favorite teachers from elementary school, or with their younger siblings...

“I can’t think of a better way for all of us to congratulate our graduating seniors and to celebrate the end of another great school year for our district,” said Superintendent Dr. Robert McGarry. Senior and Student Representative to the Board of Education, Class President, Jessica D’Agostino said, “I think we all felt pride, overwhelming nostalgia, but mostly hope for the future generations of Holmdel."
