New Jersey Vietnam Veterans’ Memorial Foundation Virtual Memorial Day Ceremony

Join us on Monday, May 25, for a virtual Memorial Day ceremony that will be shared on our social media platforms and website. The ceremony will include welcoming remarks from Melissa Ziobro, professor at Monmouth University and NJVVMF trustee; the National Anthem sung by Ali Gleason; remarks from New Jersey Vietnam Veterans on what Memorial Day means to them; and the presentation of scholarships to two graduating seniors who will read their winning essays during the ceremony. We invite our community to join us in commemorating the lives and legacies of those we’ve lost serving in the United States Armed Forces. Here are the details: 

 

HOLMDEL, NJ--The New Jersey Vietnam Veterans’ Memorial Foundation (NJVVMF) will host the annual Memorial Day ceremony virtually via Facebook and Instagram Live at 11 a.m. on Monday, May 25. The virtual ceremony will begin with a benediction by Joe Formola, chaplain of the New Jersey State Council of Vietnam Veterans of America, and welcoming remarks from Melissa Ziobro, professor at Monmouth University and NJVVMF Trustee.

https://www.njvvmf.org/memorial-day/The ceremony will include the national anthem, sung by Broadway performer Ali Gleason; remarks from New Jersey Vietnam Veterans on the meaning of Memorial Day; scholarship presentation by Rebecca DiBrienza, teacher at Scotch Plains Fanwood High School and NJVVMF Teacher of the Year; reading of the winning scholarship essays by Abigail Lim and Julia Zulin; and closing remarks by Jillian Decker, NJVVMF Director of Development.  

To remember those who have lost their lives serving in the United States Armed Forces, the public is invited to participate in the virtual ceremony by recording a video clip saying “we remember” and submitting it to gwaters@njvvmf.org. The deadline for video submissions is May 20.   The ceremony will be uploaded to the New Jersey Vietnam Veterans’ Memorial Foundation website, https://www.njvvmf.org/memorial-day/, following the virtual ceremony.

This event will be broadcast live at 11:00AM across our social media and posted afterward here on our website.
