Mary Louise Orrigo (née Garcia), 98, formerly of Lincroft, died at Magnolia Gardens in Toms River on Wednesday.

Born in Bayton, Texas in 1922, Mary had spent her childhood in Spain before moving with her family to Bayonne in her teen years. It was there that she met and married the love of her life, Alfred Orrigo, and later had their beloved daughter, Sherry. Later in her life, she moved to Lincroft with Alfred, Sherry, and her young grandson, James. Mary spent her golden years in their Lincroft home before her move into Magnolia Gardens.

Mary was a deeply devout Roman Catholic and found solace in her faith. She was a classy lady who loved her pearls and always made sure her nails were done to perfection. Devoted to her loved ones, she loved to cook all types of food, especially Spanish paella for her friends and family. Her family was her life, and being able to help her daughter raise James meant the world to her.

Mary was predeceased by her husband, Alfed Orrigo, in 2004 and her daughter, Sherry, in 2020. She leaves behind her grandson, James Romano; her niece, Bernadette Vicente and her nephew, David Garcia, as well their families.

Friends are cordially invited to a visitation on Monday, May 3rd from 9:30 until 10:30 a.m. Following the visitation, a mass of Christian burial will be offered at St. Gabriel’s Historic Church, Rt. 520, Marlboro at 11 a.m. Entombment will follow at St. Gabriel’s Mausoleum.

KINDLY NOTE: for the health and safety of all guests, current state health protocols of social distancing and wearing of face masks are required.

The sad truth is that 1 in 3 seniors dies from Alzheimer’s or another dementia. In lieu of traditional remembrances, the family requests donations in Mary’s honor to the Alzheimer’s Association, 225 N. Michigan Ave. Chicago, IL 60601, www.alz.org.
