Philip DeStasio, 85, of Middletown, NJ passed away Thursday surrounded by his family.

Philip was born and raised in Orange, NJ and he attended Seton Hall University.   Following his graduation, he went into the Army under the ROTC program where he rose to the rank of Captain. Shortly after leaving the military in 1960, he would marry the love of his life, Carol and they would begin their life together and settle in Middletown in 1965 to raise their young family.

Philip started his career as a CPA for Puder and Puder (which became Touche Ross).  He then moved to Stulz Sickles Steel Company as a CPA where he moved through the ranks to become President of the company. Philip would spend a long and prosperous 50 years with Stulz Sickles before retiring at the age of 79.

Phil loved playing the slot machines in Atlantic City, the lottery numbers and scratch offs, Monmouth Racetrack and dinners at Green Meadows and Rigolettos, but most of all he loved spending time with his family.   He loved his family above all else.  Whether it was going on his boat, Phil’s Folly, hanging out or traveling, he always wanted to be with his family.  He took the whole extended family on many wonderful family vacations.  Phil and Carol celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary last year.  He was loved by all who knew him and will be greatly missed and never forgotten.

Philip is predeceased by his daughter Sharon Harlan.

Philip is survived by his loving wife Carol of Middletown; his daughters Debbie DeStasio and her husband Gus Mutini of Middletown and Linda Ogilvie and her friend Flo of Woodstown; his son in law Michael Harlan of Somerset; and his beloved grandchildren Ryan, Chelsea, Victoria, Jack, Christian, Gabriella and Jacob.

Visitation will be Wednesday, May 5th from 3:00-7:00 PM at the Holmdel Funeral Home, 26 S. Holmdel Road, Holmdel. A Catholic mass will be offered Thursday, May 6th at 11:30 AM at The Church of St. Catharine, 108 Middletown Road, Holmdel. An Entombment will follow at Holmdel Cemetery Mausoleum.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you make a donation in Philip’s name to Disabled American Veterans (https://www.dav.org/) or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital (https://www.stjude.org).

KINDLY NOTE: for the health and safety of all guests, current state and local health protocols of social distancing and the wearing of face masks are being strictly enforced.
