HOLMDEL, NJ: The members of the Holmdel Township Education Association (HTEA) had to totally revamp their schedules and methods of teaching due to the sudden pandemic that changed traditional classroom teaching and learning to virtual with very little time to prepare. Thinking beyond their own busy schedules, the HTEA recently donated $1,000 to show their appreciation for hospital workers treating COVID-19 patients at Hackensack Meridian Bayshore Medical Center in Holmdel.

During their lunch breaks on April 15, members of the HTEA delivered cupcakes from “Confections of a Rock$tar” to the hospital workers. Confections of a Rock$tar is a local bakery in Asbury Park that has been temporarily closed during the COVID-19 quarantine, but is available for pick up orders placed in advance.

“Even though our members have been putting in long days educating and feeding our students, we still wanted to thank our hospital workers who are putting themselves at risk every day,” said HTEA President Denise King. “We thought that sending cupcakes would not only help a local business, but give the hospital workers a nice surprise. It’s hard to be sad when you’re eating a cupcake!”
