HOLMDEL, NJ - The annual Chinese New Year celebration is on! The Year of the Rat!
This annual event is open to families of the Jersey Shore Chinese School and invited guests. The annual event showcases the incredible talents of the students, teachers and more. The event starts at 1:30 P.M. at the Holmdel High School Auditorium/Commons at 36 Crawford Corner Road Holmdel. The Talent Show is held between 1:30-4:00. Party reception is 4P.M. - 6P.M.
Special Message from Principal Mrs. Jasmine Lee:
"Chinese New Year celebration is still happening. But with careful consideration, this event has been strictly for JSCS families and invited guests. The celebration will not be open to the general public. Based on the information that was provided to me by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) is as follows: According to the CDC, at this time the current situation in U.S. the virus is NOT spreading in the community in the United States. At the same time, ALL travelers from affected areas within 2 weeks of arriving and family members as well. Please refrain from attending. Also for those people who have a low immune system, as precaution, we respectfully request that you exercise proper judgment when considering attending. For the safety and welfare of others. The Jersey Shore Chinese School (新海中文學校) is a non-profit organization, which is open to the public. JSCS was founded in 1979 with the objective of promoting an understanding of Chinese language, culture and arts. JSCS has been located at William R. Satz School of Holmdel since 1989. The school offers various classes in Chinese language for students with different levels of proficiency. Mandarin is the main instructional language in all language classes, including those offered for non-Mandarin speaking children and adults. In addition to the language classes, the school provides students with a variety of cultural programs such as Tai-Chi, Chinese painting and calligraphy, Chinese folk dance, Chinese Arts & Craft , Multi-Media Painting, Chinese Yo-Yo, Ping-pong, Fun Sports Club, Pami Kol Self Defense Martial Arts, and lion dance.
