HOLMDEL, NJ - The Holmdel Board of Education's leadership team of President Victoria Flynn and Vice President Michael Sockol, expressed thanks to the many individuals and groups responsible for the district's work during the current pandemic:
The Holmdel Board of Education wanted to take a moment to offer thanks to the many people responsible for the District’s historical transformation to remote learning during the current coronavirus crisis.
- To Dr. McGarry and his administrative team for their leadership. The coronavirus may be new, but the District’s adoption of critical digital tools, such as Google Classroom, along with the District’s overall technology strategy has been in the works for many years. Thanks to their diligent efforts and planning, along with the continuing support of the Board and the community, we were well-prepared to tackle the transformation to remote learning.
- To our teachers for rising to the challenge. Every day we are discovering new ways to educate our children through a variety of technology platforms, because of the energy and creativity of our teachers. We are fortunate to have teachers and staff who did more than just accept the challenge. They embraced it. Their flexibility and dedication made sure that our District’s commitment to excellence would continue throughout this crisis.
- To our parents and our students for their patience and kindness. We recognize that this transition has not been an easy one, but the response we have seen from both parents and students is pretty amazing. So many of you have sent inspirational notes to our teachers and administrators, and your feedback has been appreciated as remote education evolves as a “work in progress.” This has truly been a team effort.
- To our building services personnel for staying the course. Our custodians and our maintenance and grounds crews are keeping our facilities clean, safe and well maintained, while social distancing procedures are in place to protect them from the virus. Their personal oversight of our facilities takes on added importance as the District continues to push forward with our goal to complete almost all phases of our current Holmdel 2020 Initiative by September. We appreciate everyone’s hard work and dedication, including the contractors and project managers overseeing this critical modernization project.
We all wish everyone to stay well and be safe.
