HOLMDEL, NJ - 'We are Number 1' is common refrain in local schools. Based on a new rating with one ratings website called niche.com, Holmdel schools can claim title to it for 2020. Holmdel school system was just ranked #1 in Monmouth County. You can view their ranking HERE

Niche is a data analytics company from Pennsylvania that, according to the company, 'combines rigorous analysis with authentic reviews to highlight the best schools, companies, and neighborhoods.'

Niche provides grades on a number of issue on the website. Included in the grades are academics, teachers, sports, food, diversity and more. According to the website,  Academics is based on state assessment proficiency, SAT/ACT scores, and survey responses on academics from students and parents. A weighting of 60.0% applies. Culture & Diversity is based on racial and economic diversity and survey responses on school culture and diversity from students and parents. It receives a 10.0% weighting.

Parent/Student Surveys on overall experience is another metric where responses scored on a 1-5 scale regarding the overall experience of students and parents from the school. Recently, the Holmdel School Board moved forward on conducting their first ever Senior Survey. This survey, as reported during a recent board meeting, had a big response of about 40% of graduating seniors. The Holmdel graduates were asked to grade their experience on many levels in order to provide direct feedback from the students to administration and board. The Superintendent distributed the data to the board at the recent meeting and it is slated to be a topic of discussion at an upcoming annual retreat.
