HOLMDEL, NJ - And it continues...

The election loss of Prakash Santhana was by a mere three votes. Expectedly, the recount filing has now been made, according to the Monmouth County Clerk's Office.

This would include machine ballots, military ballots, absentee ballots from voters (including residents in local nursing homes) and the late breaking provisional ballots that ended up favoring the Republican candidates.

As reported previously, Republican Liu beat Independent Santhana by three votes. This placed Chiung-Yin Cheng Liu on track to be the first Asian American woman in the history of Holmdel to serve on the Holmdel Township Committee.

The unofficial vote totals now stand at Weber 2164, Liu 2082, Santhana 2079 and Hinds at 2063.

If the vote order  stands, the 2020 Holmdel Township Committee will include: Cathy Weber, Chiung-Yin Cheng Liu, Rocco Pascucci, Tom Critelli and Greg Buontempo. The five will choose a Mayor and Deputy Mayor for the year. Buontempo and Pascucci are up in 2020

How will the recount go? With few votes between Santhana and Liu, it's anybody's guess.

Reorganization is during the first week of January.
