EAST BRUNSWICK, NJ - Kate (Colchie) Abdelmalek (EB graduating class of 2006) and 2 friends founded Canary & Co. "We are a women-founded business focused on clever, unexpected design with women’s needs in mind. It is our mission to not only create a product, but a platform to empower women in their daily lives," says the website.

"Our story is probably relatable to most working women: We met at a job where we felt a little creatively stifled, and were eager to design something beautiful, clever, and useful. A bag that conquers all bags. So we designed our first collection, The Fundamentals: A modular system that allows you to move throughout your day. Each bag has a unique set of features built for every activity (trust us, we have thought of EVERYTHING), all fitting into each other like puzzle pieces. Gone are the days of being a bag lady! You can get to your 5am yoga class, catch the 7am train, hit happy hour after work, and still have time for face masking and Netflix with your friends."

Chef and "momtrepreneur" Ayesha Curry of Fempire is promoting their company and its products. Curry supports women's businesses and is a regular guest on the "Ellen" show. She has her own online sales program and a show on the Food Network.

Says East Brunswick resident Norma Commerford, "Watch this video! Be inspired! And check out the bag! I love mine!"
