HOLMDEL, NJ: Holmdel High School 2019 Graduate, Michael Campenalla loves to cook! He has taken that passion, married it to his passion for acting and writing, and voila! Campanella has now published Theater of the Kitchen, a cookbook with over 40 recipes, making YOU the star of the kitchen.
Campanella uses concepts from his acting training at NYU Tisch School of the Arts to foster creativity in the kitchen that transcends relying on recipes—instead, he explores ways to cook with instinct, intuition, and a dash of irreverence.
Built on a love of creativity and a love for life, Michael’s book hones in on the creative muscles we all need to have in the kitchen and how to train those muscles. This includes trusting your instincts, training your palate, and developing your personal artistry to coax your culinary genius to come out from behind the curtains and take center stage.
TAPinto spoke with Dana Campanella, Michaels mom, "We are very proud of Michael. Ever since Michael was little he loved to cook and act. I am so happy to see him pursuing his dream of both.” You can purchase Campanella's cookbook here.
With over 40 recipes intentionally designed not to be followed, each paired with essays on techniques and cooking fundamentals, Theater of the Kitchen has one goal in mind: to allow you to create food that is 100% your own version based on your personal taste. This fun and creative cookbook may even find you learning about yourself and your creative spirit in the process.

Campanella commented to TAPinto, "Cooking is about being in the moment. It's about being in touch with your senses and emotions. When you do that, you can begin to create food that represents who you truly are, food that allows you to bask in the spotlight of your own creation. You can star in your own theater of the kitchen!"
So what's next for Campanella?
"Writing a cookbook has certainly been an all-consuming endeavor for the past 18 months. Now that I have launched Theater of the Kitchen, I've pivoted to focusing on marketing efforts, which has been a really interesting part of this whole process to navigate. I also have taken the first steps to start writing a miniseries which is something that I've wanted to do for a while now. i would like to have it done by the fall, when hopefully the world is more normal, and I can get a group of actors and filmmakers together to film it! Other than that, I was recently hired at the Corcoran group in New York City as a real estate salesperson, so I've been helping my friends who are looking for off campus housing get apartments. I am also working with a startup to develop a mental wellness app, which uses artificial intelligence, storytelling, and journaling to make mental health as tangible as physical health. I've been doing a lot of writing and organizing for that, which has been really rewarding. And of course, a lot of my focus is on being a student and savoring life in New York City."
