With his left hand on The Bible and his right hand straight up, Holmdel's new Mayor Eric Hinds took the oath from the highest ranking dignitary in the room, Senator Declan O'Scanlon.  After a round of applause Mayor Hinds  took his place in the center chair.

The next item on the agenda was the vote for a new Deputy Mayor. This vote went a little differently. The nominee was Committeeman Mike Nikolis. The support was split.

The vote was four in favor and a loud 'no' from longtime  Holmdel Committeeman Rocco Pascucci. After the republicans split on the vote for Nikolis, he was  sworn in as Deputy Mayor by Assemblywoman Serena DiMaso.

Said Hinds, “A United Holmdel is my goal as Mayor.   We’ve had too much division and we need to inspire better relations in our community, including better communication and more inclusion with the community.  I want to create a culture that embraces volunteerism!  Finally we need to continue to invest in our infrastructure both in roads and parks.   We need a strategic vision especially since the state has such misguided priorities.  Holmdel needs to stand alone and continue to be a better community."
