NEW JERSEY: The American Society of Interventional Pain Physicians (ASIPP) has selected Charles Daknis, MD., of Seaview Orthopaedics, as President of its New Jersey Chapter.
In his new role as NJ ASIPP president, Dr. Daknis’ duties will include coordinating educational opportunities for society members and working with legislators to adopt laws that support patient access to care. Amidst rising copays and insurer mandated limits on patient care, one of Dr. Daknis’ first tasks was to meet with Senator Nicholas Scutari to discuss maintaining New Jerseyan’s access to healthcare.
When asked what he hopes to accomplish, Dr. Daknis said the following “Quality interventional care allows individuals to return to work, provide for their family, and preserve their dignity and self esteem. Over the next two years, I look forward to working with state legislators, state representatives, and communicating with insurers to protect our patient’s ability to receive high quality interventional pain management.”
Fellowship-trained at the renowned Harvard University Brigham and Women’s hospital, Dr. Daknis has over 20 years of interventional pain management experience and joined Seaview Orthopaedics in August of 2017. ASIPP was created in 1998 with the purpose of promoting the practice of safe, high quality, cost effective interventional pain management techniques. The society has established chapters in all 50 states and will host the NJ/NY Joint Pain Conference in Elizabeth, NJ this November 2019.
