HOLMDEL, NJ - The Republican Primary election appeals process is finally over.

Deputy Mayor Michael Nikolis, who is completing his first full 3 year term, failed to pick up enough votes during the recount process to beat Ching-Yin Cheng Liu. Liu ran with Mayor Eric Hinds who was top vote getter in the primary. He was considering taking the matter to court after failing to secure enough votes to win during the first official recount. He decided against it.

“The deadline has passed to file an election contest in NJ Superior Court to overturn the results of the 2019 Holmdel Republican Primary.  My team and I have evaluated all of the legal options and have decided not to continue to contest the results of the primary.” Stated Nikolis on his public Facebook page. “I would like to thank my family, my friends and all of my supporters.”

Hinds and Liu will be on the ballot in November. They will be facing two candidates running as Independents. Cathy Weber and Prakash Santhana.
