TRENTON, N.J. — You can duck but you can't hide - your wallet. New triggered gas taxes of 9 cents, 9.9 billion in bonding and more vie for control of your finances during the coronavirus pandemic 

Now, in time for your morning commute is a heavy punch of tax hikes on tolls.

New Jersey drivers will see major increases on the state’s two major toll roads. They were approved in May over objections from residents and stakeholders - many said the improvements  were out of step with the goals of going green and focusing on mass transit. Others were objecting to the vote during the pandemic.

Tolls will rise 36% on the New Jersey Turnpike and 27% on the Garden State Parkway.

Officials say the increases are needed for a massive capital improvement program and for NJ Transit provide critical funding for New Jersey Transit.
