HOLMDEL, NJ - Car thieves are getting brazen and citizens need to be very much aware of their surroundings.

According to the Holmdel police department, "At 5:41 Wednesday, the Holmdel Police responded to the area of White Cedar Lane on a report of a male subject wearing a gray sweater jacket, black mask and gloves, with a tall, thin build attempting to enter a vehicle parked in the driveway. The suspect then approached the open garage door, but was startled by the dog in the residence, where he fled on foot into the passenger seat of a dark colored BMW SUV. The BMW then fled the area with a loud exhaust on the vehicle.

Shortly after, the same vehicle parked in the driveway of a residence on Partridge Run and attempted to enter a vehicle in the driveway, but was scared off by someone at the house.

No items or vehicles were taken from either residence, but the Holmdel Police Department is asking anyone in those areas to check their security cameras for possible footage of the suspects. If anyone has any information we ask that you contact Detective Sergeant Bernard at 732-946-4400.
