HOLMDEL, NJ - The Holmdel Police Department is seeking witnesses to a crash involving a Holmdel school and a Chevy Impala. According to a press release, on 02/20/2019 at approximately 11:22am, Holmdel Police responded to the intersection of County Road 520 and Ladwood Drive for a reported motor vehicle collision involving a school bus. Upon arrival, it was discovered a Silver Chevy Impala operated by a 68-year-old Holmdel resident, was traveling east on County Route 520.
The vehicle left its lane of travel, entered into the westbound lane, and struck a Helfrich Bus Company School Bus head-on. The school bus had just picked up seven children from the Holmdel Village Elementary School. The driver of the Chevy Impala was transported to Jersey Shore University Medical Center, Neptune after she experienced a medical episode while driving. The 41-year-old driver of the school bus was treated at the scene by Holmdel First Aid for a leg injury. No other injuries were reported at the scene. The accident is still under investigation by Ptl. James Corrigan.
