COLTS NECK, NJ - A tragic fire took the life of a local man and injured his wife. That is according to updated information from the Monmouth County Prosecutors Office. TAPinto HCN reported the news as it was breaking on Tuesday morning.

The release stated that Rosemary Apisa, 75, of Colts Neck, called police around 2:22 a.m. She was taken to Jersey Shore University Medical Center in Neptune for smoke inhalation and was released.

Her husband, Joseph Apisa, 76, was killed in the fire. Somehow, he was trapped inside his bedroom when the fire destroyed the home early Tuesday morning. The fire raged to two alarms, requiring significant manpower.

The fire has not been deemed suspicious at this time.
