MIDDLETOWN - Tragedy struck in the surf this past Saturday.

Initially, a call went out for a water rescue in the Sandy Hook Bay. The report was of a man overboard and the Brevent Park rescue boat sprang into action. The boat was reported to be a 38-foot fishing boat. Numerous New York Police Department helicopters converged at the scene. The county dive team was also engaged.

Sadly, New Jersey State Police spokesman Sgt. Philip Curry said Scott Sabisch was unresponsive when with the agency's Marine Service Officers pulled him from the water and was pronounced dead.
