HAZLET, NJ: During the COVID-19 crisis, where visiting loved ones in care facilities has not been possible, Anchor Care and Rehabilitation Center since April, has provided a Visiting Tent, to keep residents safely connected to family.

Following pandemic guidelines, an enclosed tent was erected up against large windows of the care center. Comfortable seating was put in place on both sides of the glass and Anchor Care residents then sit next near the window to safely visit with their loved ones.  Speaker phones on both ends allow easy conversation. The tent has proved a wonderful way to keep residents and families connected, with only a window between them.  Birthday parties are made possible and beloved family pets get to enjoy the visit too.

In addition to the visiting tent, Anchor Care also has iPads available for Facetime visits for residents and their families and friends. The outpouring of support from the community has been strong with messages of love and positivity from Hazlet Recreation Commission, local businesses, families, Scout Troops, and College Fraternities. Internal communication is key as well with residents having regular access to Anchor Care's Channel 8.

Anchor Care honors their essential workers this month with grab and go breakfast Fridays! For more information about Anchor Care and Rehabilitation Center in Hazlet, click HERE.
