COLTS NECK, NJ: Suicide is an epidemic, one death every 40 seconds, a couple more precious lives lost by the time you read this short article.... There's a new group Start Day One, a nonprofit formed to raise awareness of the suicide epidemic and change perspective in the minds of those whose lives are threatened by it.
Abbey Feiler-Kober is on the founding board of Start Day One. She and her husband Tom Kober, generously hosted the launch event for the organization, this past Friday evening, at their Colts Neck estate; Abbey Farm. Abbey Feiler-Kober comments, "We need to do more in the way of suicide awareness and prevention and Start Day One is a great place to begin. Never underestimate how even just one act of kindness can help another person. It's all about helping others to see that their life is important and that they matter and have a purpose."
Co-founder of Start Day One, Ricardo Zulueta whose brother died by suicide commented, "We want to proactively help change the perspective a person may have instead of waiting until they develop suicidal tendancies. It's about helping others realize that it's more than just dreaming about how better life can be but about appreciating what life is and realizing you can make things better, it's about starting day one."
It was a time to gather and talk about the epidemic and explain the organization's mission. Live entertainment provided by singer/songwriter Scott Elk, a delicious array of foods, and an open bar were enjoyed by guests. For more information about Start Day One click here.
