HOLMDEL, NJ: Even Gatsby was outbid Saturday evening at the successful and fun 1920's themed fundraiser hosted by Holmdel Foundation for Educational Excellence (HFEE), held at Eagle Oaks Country Club in Farmingdale, NJ. The biennial event broke records in every way over previous Gala events. "It was sold out in less than 3 days, with a record breaking 100 more attendees than the 2016 HFEE Gala," commented Gala President, Brooke O'Brien, who continued, "The Gala is such a tremendous fundraiser for HFEE, that could never be a success without the wonderful support of our Holmdel parents, schools, local businesses and companies. On behalf of HFEE, thank you to all!" The last HFEE Gala in 2016 raised $117,000 and O'Brien reported that in keeping with tradition that previous number has been surpassed this year!
Many guests roared into the event as if they stepped out of the Great Gatsby days, with fringed dresses, long pearls and feather and rhinestone adorned headpieces for the ladies. There were pin striped suits for some of the men, and derby, fedora and top hats were spotted. Guests enjoyed cocktails and delicious foods, while browsing the generous gift basket and silent auction room. Guests entered the main ballroom for dinner and the emcee for the evening was Holmdel's Steve Burden, who gave the opening remarks and sponsor acknowledgements throughout the evening. HFEE Co-Chairs Michelle Sottile and Bryan Rukin addressed the room of 355 guests, thanking everyone who made the grand event possible. The live auction took in a record breaking amount of money to be used to enrich the teaching and learning experiences at Holmdel's public schools.
The Holmdel Foundation for Educational Excellence was founded in 1996 to bring private funding to Holmdel Public Schools. Currently HFEE is sponsoring the building of two Science Discovery Laboratories at Indian Hill for the younger children. For the High School and Satz School, HFEE is sponsoring a Cardiovascular Fitness and Wellness Center. The next HFEE event is the 4th Annual 5K and Kids Fun Run 2018, Sunday, June 3, 2018 at 8am.
