BYRAM, NJ - Councilman Carlos Luaces and running mate Giovanni Di Meo have filed petitions for the seat of Byram mayor and Byram council.
Luaces and Di Meo have cited their concern over taxes being raised as a motivating factor in their candidacy.
“I do not like the direction the township is heading or where it has been,” Luaces said. “I don’t like how taxes are going up and services are being taken away.
“As an elected official I took an oath to serve the people of my community and a promise to listen and make decisions that reflect the will of the people and not my ego; as well as make policy to better the lives of our residents, not to ignore them” Luaces stated.
"It is quite disheartening when almost all decision from this council are made privately. We need less decisions made behind closed doors. It’s time for new ideas and an open government in Byram,” DiMeo said.
