JERSEY CITY, NJ - A Jersey City man sought in the stabbing death of Tyrone Haskins, 39, has been arrested, according to Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez.
In a statement Suarez said that Darius Evans, 45, turned himself in with his attorney on Monday just after noon, at the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office in Jersey City. He previously had been charged in connection with the murder and a warrant had been issued for his arrest.
Evans is charged with Murder, Possession of a Weapon for Unlawful Purposes, and Unlawful Possession of a Weapon.
As previously reported, at approximately 2:45 a.m. on January 1, members of the Jersey City Police Department received a report of a possible stabbing victim found in the area of 333 Ocean Avenue. Upon arrival, responding police officers found Haskins with an apparent stab wound to his torso.
Haskins was transported by Emergency Medical Services to Jersey City Medical Center where he was pronounced dead at approximately 3:20 a.m.
