HOBOKEN, NJ - A Jersey City man was arrested by Hoboken Police Monday afternoon after attempting to gain access to vehicles stopped at 14th & Park Avenue.
Around 4:30 p.m. on March 1, the Hoboken Police Department received multiple 911 calls of a male pulling on car door handles at the stoplight. Police Officer Francis McCourt and Police Officer Enrico Gnassi responded and found the suspect, 24-year-old Madhur Patel. Two victims reported that Patel approached their vehicles and attempted to gain entry by pulling on their driver’s side door handle. In both attempts he was unsuccessful, as the doors were locked.
During the investigation, the suspect spat at Officer McCourt—hitting him on his leg—and Patel was placed under arrest. While being searched for the arrest, Patel was found to be in possession of a control dangerous substance suspect Phencyclidine (PCP).
He was charged on a warrant with two counts of Carjacking, Throwing Bodily Fluid at Law Enforcement Officer, and Possession of Control Dangerous Substance PCP. After being processed, Patel was transported to the Hudson County Correctional Facility.
