JERSEY CITY, NJ - A 26-year-old Jersey City man is dead after being fatally struck by a vehicle just after 4:00 a.m. Saturday. According to Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez, The Hudson County Regional Collision Investigation Unit is investigating the incident that claimed the life of Shawn Charles.

A report states that Charles was standing outside a home on Summit Avenue when he was struck by a vehicle backing up and leaving the area. The driver initially left the scene, but returned shortly after. Charles, was transported to the Jersey City Medical Center where he was pronounced deceased at 4:28 a.m.
