JERSEY CITY, NJ - While city officials advance efforts to expand opportunities for restaurants along the Newark Avenue Plaza, the owner of local favorite Bonchon is reminding those searching for a great meal of the steps they’ve taken to keep Jersey City fed since the COVID-19 crisis began.

“This is our hometown too; we love Jersey City; we have been open every day since the pandemic and will continue to serve our community,” said Hyung Moh Kim, the location's owner.

Bonchon’s signature sauce was created in Korea back in 2002, and the restaurant has kept the original recipe ever since. Signature Korean Fried Chicken is always a favorite, Kim said.

Launched to satisfy a craving for nostalgia and familiarity, company founder Mr. Seo, introduced premium, flavorful sauces and cooking techniques served in a globally inspired, modern and sleek environment when he opened Bonchon chicken which is double-fried, then hand brushed with our signature sauce.

Also, popular locally is the New Family Meal which was just launched during pandemic. It comes with Wings, Drums, and Fried Rice as well as two side options. Sauces include a mix of Soy Garlic & Spicy. This has been popular during the pandemic with to-go and delivery.

“We have implemented heightened sanitation procedures based on CDC guidelines to make sure guest & staff safety is our top priority,” Kim said, offering additional training for all staff on new sanitation procedures; hand sanitizers made available to guests and staff; hourly cleaning & sanitizing of the restaurant; temper-resistant seals for all to-go orders; and sealed/to-go condiments & utensils used for all orders as a few.

”We signed up with Doordash and are currently offering free delivery on all orders,” Kim said. “We're also going to start offering app & online ordering the week of June 8. Obviously, the safety of our staff and our guests is priority. We want to ensure guests feel comfortable ordering from us and that's why we put so many safety measures in place. But removing fear from the guests' mind is difficult and going to be a long-term challenge.”

“We're doing everything possible to provide our guests with the best experience possible during these uncertain times. We're open and here to serve our guests as we have since 2010,” Kim said.
