HUDSON COUNTY—The list of recreation options this weekend just got a bit longer, as Hudson County Executive Tom De Gise announced the reopening of select County-run parks.
"After an excellent series of discussions with our local mayors informed by their health departments, we have come up with an initial reopening schedule for the Hudson County Park System," said De Gise, via a press statement Friday.
Among those getting the green light for passive recreation are Stephen R. Gregg Park in Bayonne, Lincoln Park in Jersey City, West Hudson Park in Kearny, James J. Braddock Park in North Bergen, and Laurel Hill Park in Secaucus.
Meanwhile, Hoboken's Columbus Park, Jersey City's Mercer Park, and Washington Park in Union City and Jersey City will remain closed for the time being.
As part of the reopening, masks are required, social distancing protocols will be enforced, and services will be limited. Playgrounds, ballfields and courts will remain closed. Restrooms in all parks will remain closed.
"We really need to act like adults right now as we take these baby steps towards recovery," warned De Gise, who hinted at the possibility of re-closing parks if widespread violations are reported. "Please social distance and wear a mask."
