JERSEY CITY, NJ- A 28-year-old Jersey City man has been arrested in connection with a sexual assault at knifepoint of a Jersey City woman that took place on April 7.

According to Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez members of the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office Special Victims Unit, with the assistance of the Jersey City Police Department, arrested Jermaine Williams, 28, on Wednesday. Williams, the report said, attempted to flee from police but was brought into custody in the area of Bidwell Avenue just before 2:00 p.m.

Williams faces a battery of charges in the late night attack including Aggravated Sexual Assault, Robbery, Criminal Restraint, and Possession of a Weapon for Unlawful Purposes

Following his arrest, Williams was transported to the Hudson County Correctional Facility in Kearny pending his first appearance.
