JERSEY CITY, NJ - A Queens woman waspreviously arrested and charged with Assault by Auto after allegedly causing a crash that critically injured Port Authority Police Officer Peter Siano, III on April 28 has been further charged with Driving While Intoxicated, Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez announced Tuesday.

Officer Siano remains hospitalized in critical but stable condition at the Jersey City Medical Center.

Amendeep Tiwana, 27, whom investigators have said was traveling at an excessive rate of speed when the crash occurred, was arrested Tuesday without incident. A previous charge of Assault by Auto has been upgraded to a second degree offense as a result blood alcohol tests determining she was over the legal limit for driving.

According to the statement the Hudson County Prosecutor's Office will be moving to detain Tiwana on the upgraded charges.
