HACKENSACK, NJ - Tyrief Martin, 30, Jersey City, has been arrested on two counts of Sexual Assault and one count of Endangering The Welfare Of A Child.

Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella announced the arrest on Friday, following a joint investigation conducted by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office under the direction of Chief Robert Anzilotti, the Rutherford Police Department under the direction of Chief John R. Russo, the Bergen County Sheriff’s Office under the direction of Sheriff Anthony Cureton, and the Jersey City Police Department under the direction of Chief Mike Kelly.

Rutherford Police were initially contacted on March 29 with allegations that Martin forcibly sexually assaulted a child under the age of 18. The ensuing investigation by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Special Victims Unit, revealed an additional victim.

Warrants were issued by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office charging charging Martin with two counts of Sexual Assault, in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:14-2C(1), a 2nd degree crime, and one count of
Endangering The Welfare Of A Child, in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:24-4A(1), a 2nd degree crime.

The Jersey City Police Department took Martin into custody on March 27, and he was transported by the Bergen County Sheriff’s Office to the Bergen County Jail. Martin is scheduled
for his first appearance in Central Judicial Processing Court in Hackensack, NJ on Friday,
May 1.

The defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
