JERSEY CITY, NJ - Jahquell Carter, the third suspect wanted in connection in the July 6 fatal shooting of 17-year-old Tyaeah Garner, was apprehended and arrested early Tuesday in Plymouth Borough, Pennsylvania.

According to Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez, the arrest was made by members of the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Homicide Task Force, the Plymouth Borough Police Department, the Pennsylvania State Police, the Lycoming County Sheriff’s Office, Pennsylvania State Parole and the New York/New Jersey Regional Marshals Fugitive Task Force. 

Carter, 24, pending extradition proceedings to be brought back to New Jersey.

In a statement Suarez said that when police arrived at the home where Carter was hiding, the suspect fled to the attic and attempted to hide in a crawl space but was apprehended without incident. 

On Saturday, charges were announced against Carter and two co-defendants, Heavenley Cherry, 19, and Izmae Tinker-Trent, 19, both of Jersey City.
