NEWARK, NJ – A Jersey City man was arrested on Tuesday after fatally stabbing his father, a Newark resident, authorities announced.
Noah Jennings, 22, of Jersey City, was arrested and charged with the murder of his father, Phillip Jennings, 60, of Newark, Acting Essex County Prosecutor Theodore Stephens said.
The victim was discovered by police on April 2 when they went for a wellness check, according to officials. Once authorities arrived on the scene, the Newark man pronounced dead at 12:42 p.m., officials said.
Officials said they believe the man was stabbed in his second-floor apartment on Oration Street in Newark.
Police charged Noah Jennings with one count of murder, one count of unlawful possession of a weapon and one count of possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose.
The investigation remains active and ongoing. The investigation is being handled by the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office Homicide/Major Crimes Task Force, which includes detectives from the Newark Police Department.
