JERSEY CITY, NJ - A 28-year-old Jersey City man was in court via video conference Friday to face charges following his arrest for illegally possessing a handgun with a large capacity magazine, said U.S. Attorney Craig Carpenito.
Malik Holloway is charged with one count of Possession of a Firearm and Ammunition by a Convicted Felon.
According to documents filed, a member of the Jersey City Police Department (JCPD) observed via surveillance camera what he believed to be the transfer of a firearm between two individuals on Neptune Avenue at approximately 8:20 p.m. on July 13. Approximately 30 minutes later, members of JCPD observed a large group of people in the area and Malik Holloway walking away from the group appeared to be a bulge protruding from the center of his waistband.
At this point Holloway was stopped and an officer conducted a pat down for weapons leading to the recovery of a Glock Model 17 9mm with a large capacity magazine containing 18 rounds of ammunition.
Holloway faces ten years in prison and a fine of up to $250,000.
