In May, the Lewisboro Parks and Recreation department launched a card party to help celebrate the 101st birthday of Lois Reynolds. Lois has been going through all the cards—about 140 total—and wanted to thank the community for the outpouring of good wishes. Here’s her letter of thanks:
Dear Lewisboro Friends:
It was overwhelming! So many wonderful people helped me celebrate my 101st birthday on May 31. It has taken a long time to open the more than 140 birthday cards I received from the Park and Recreation’s call for a Town Card Party. I received cards from friends, relatives, neighbors and so many people I don’t know who took the time to send me birthday wishes. I appreciate all the good wishes. There was even one from the person who installed our septic tanks years ago and one from my former healthcare aide, Beatrice, all the way from West Ghana. It was so thoughtful of everyone to help “this Antique” celebrate her birthday. I appreciated the many handwritten messages, and especially the handmade cards from the children. I guess it gave them something to do during the pandemic! So many people said, “Wow! Where do you keep your recipe for a long life?” I just say, “Keep on going,”
Thank you to Dana Mayclim and the Park and Recreation Department, the South Salem Fire Department, LVAC, the Lewisboro Police and the NY State Police for making my 101st birthday a wonderful occasion. I still can’t believe all the cards and good wishes. It was so thoughtful of our wonderful townspeople. A big thank you to you all!
