BEDFORD, N.Y. – Bedford Playhouse put a few theatergoers to the test on Saturday, Dec. 22, prior to a screening of “Mary Poppins Returns.”

With free tickets on the line, the four spelling bee contestants were asked to spell “supercalifragilisticexpialidocious.” The word, a creation of the famous Sherman Brothers songwriting team, first appeared in the original “Mary Poppins” film in 1964. Nobody was able to successfully spell the word, but the contestants were given a round of applause for their efforts.
