VISTA, N.Y. – Construction has begun on Country Childrens Center, a new daycare center being developed in Vista. This new daycare facility is under the direction of Polly Peace, who has been the executive director of the Country Childrens Center for 31 years. During her tenure, she has opened five sites for the care of infants, toddlers and pre-school aged children. Those centers are located in Yorktown (two), Bedford Hills, Katonah and Lewisboro.

Peace said creating safe, secure environments for young children where their growth and development is nurtured is central to her mission. The new center, located in the Commons of Vista, will be her sixth such effort.

Peace said she is “excited to be expanding our reach, once more, this time in the Vista/South Salem area. Not only as a chance to increase the number of children we care for daily, but also to create another option for parents while enjoying and discovering all that is new and exciting at the Commons of Vista. Creating safe, secure environments for young children where their growth and development is nurtured and encouraged is central to our success. We are attentive to the needs, values and lifestyles of working parents, and make every effort to make child care available to parents across the area.”

Peace said she hopes the center will open in the fall. Applications for enrollment can be found at countrychildrenscenter.org.

Phil Pine, the owner of the Commons of Vista, said he is “thrilled to have Country Childrens Center as the newest partner at the shopping center. The town of Lewisboro has been totally supportive in our efforts to begin immediate construction at the site.”

Pine, who is also the developer of the new luxury town homes adjacent to the center, Laurel Ridge Townhomes, has diverted all energy and resources toward the completion of the new building that will be home to Country Childrens Center.

Town Supervisor Peter Parsons, in a press release, said he is happy to welcome the newest Country Childrens Center to the area. He cited the need for daycare options as parents continue to seek the best options for their children’s safety and development.
