Book Launch Party

The Katonah Village Library will host a launch party for the release of Katonah author Lauren Acampora’s new novel, “The Paper Wasp”.

The book has already been named a Best Summer Read by The New York Times Book Review and Publishers Weekly. Her debut collection of linked stories, “The Wonder Garden,” was published by Grove in May 2015. It was named a Barnes & Noble Discover Great New Writers selection and an Indie Next selection and was chosen as one of the best books of the year by Amazon and NPR. It won the GLCA New Writers Award, was a finalist for the New England Book Award, and was on the longlist for The Story Prize.

Acampora’s short fiction has also appeared in publications such as The Paris Review, Missouri Review, Prairie Schooner, New England Review, Antioch Review, and Day One. She graduated from Brown University, earned an MFA at Brooklyn College, and has received fellowships from the MacDowell Colony, the Ucross Foundation, Writers OMI International Residency, and the Ragdale Foundation.

“The Paper Wasp” will be available for purchase and signing. The author will present in the accessible Garden Room on the lower level of the library in Katonah. 

Acampora lives in Katonah with her husband, artist Thomas Doyle, and their daughter.

I went to the medical center recently for my physical. The doctor made a comment that an annual exam doesn’t mean every three years, but I feel healthy and didn’t see the need to rush.
