This GivingTuesday, the Katonah Museum of Art acknowledges the spirit of giving by continuing to provide events and programs that explore ideas about art, culture and society—past and present—through innovative exhibition and education programs.

GivingTuesday, taking place Dec. 3, is a global day of giving that harnesses the collective power of individuals, communities and organizations to encourage giving and to celebrate generosity worldwide. Every year, on GivingTuesday, millions of people across the globe (almost 60 countries) mobilize to show up, give back, and change their communities. The goal is to create a collective wave of generosity that lasts well beyond that day and touches every person on the planet.

The Katonah Museum of Art has joined the #GivingTuesday movement in an effort to reach a diverse audience and encourage the spirit of giving to grow greater than before.

“It needs to be recognized that we can put on world-class exhibitions, but at the end of the day we are a community museum,” said

Michael Gitlitz, Katonah Museum of Art Executive Director. “And we have to have strong relationships with our community. It is part of the DNA of this Museum.”

Being a part of the #GivingTuesday community provides the opportunity to share the KMA story with a wider audience while at the same time generating support for our upcoming programs and events.

About GivingTuesday
GivingTuesday is a global giving movement that has been built by individuals, families, organizations, businesses and communities in all 50 states and in countries around the world. GivingTuesday harnesses the collective power of a unique blend of partners to transform how people think about, talk about, and participate in the giving season. It inspires people to take collective action to improve their communities, give back in better, smarter ways to the charities and causes they believe in, and help create a better world.
