Welcome to “News & Notes,” where we look at the happenings here in Westchester County…

June is busting out all over—as is my waistline—so, no more hot dogs for me. I’m off to buy some kale and write this week’s “time to tighten my tummy” edition of “News & Notes.”

Our friends at the Katonah Chamber of Commerce asked us to mention their annual Donald M. Foulke and Ian D. Baren Scholarship Luncheon, which is set for noon Friday, June 7, at Caramoor. The public is cordially invited, but seats are limited. The guest speaker will be County Executive George Latimer.

Congratulations to all the great participants at the ninth annual Bedford Central School District’s Wheels & Heels Elementary BikeRun. A job well done.

A loud roar goes out to my fellow Lions from the Bedford Hills Lions Club as it presents on June 24 an evening of Heavenly Connections with Maura Evidential Medium and Spiritual Advisor. Dinner will be served at Sette e Venti, Bedford Hills. The evening will be filled with loving, healing, inspirational messages and some delicious food, cost is $55 per person.

On June 9, the good folks at Paramount Hudson Valley Theater, in Peekskill, will be rocking with Blue Oyster Cult, one of the nation’s all-time greatest hard-rock ensembles. They continue to tour hard and loud, kicking out jams at every opportunity.

A friendly reminder to get your tickets to the Bedford Hills Library 2019 Spring Gala on June 4. This very special event features a superb performance of Erma Bombeck’s “At Wit’s End,” presented at the theatre of Rippowam Cisqua.  Come for cocktails and music at 6 p.m., the performance at 7 p.m., followed by an artistic talkback and dessert. This is the library’s annual fundraising gala, with all proceeds going to support the free programs and services provided for Bedford Hills community. We look forward to seeing many of you there and thank you for your support.

Our favorite National Arena League football team, the NY Streets, have three exciting June games set for June 8, 15 and 29 at the Westchester County Center in White Plains, and televised on MSG Networks. We have been to a game; it really is up close dynamic family entertainment.

Once again, the John Jay Homestead Farm Market is open Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., through October. Purchase locally produced healthy food and support local, sustainable agriculture. This weekly market also offers musical entertainment, featured community organizations, demonstrations and workshops.

The gang at the Westchester Broadway Theatre is proud to present “On Your Feet,” based on the lives of the Grammy-winning husband-and-wife team Gloria and Emilio Estefan, now through Aug. 4; my toes are tapping just thinking about this show.

A big shout out to our neighbor and good friend, Rob Labritz, the PGA director of golf at GlenArbor Golf Club in Bedford Hills, as he made the cut and earned Low PGA Club

Professional honors in the 2019 PGA Championship. Way to go, Rob!

Happy Father’s Day to all those great dads out there. And did you know that June is National Dairy month? So, go milk a cow and we’ll see you around the farm…
