For some, Blue Monday is saddest day of the year.  But for music fans it's one of the happiest.

The annual rockabilly festival, which started on Thursday in Attignat-Oncin, France, is one of the highlights of Europe's music scene.

This is the 15th year of the four-day Good Rockin' Tonight show, a tradition for this small town 60 miles east of Lyon and proof how Europe has has taken to the quintessential American music genre.

The other Blue Monday -- the depressing January day that earned the moniker from mood experts -- will be a distant memory when the more than two dozen largely American bands will take the stage over four days.

Rudy "Tutti" Grayzell -- the founder of rockabilly and festival mainstay -- won't be there but legends such as 79-year-old Johnny Powers -- he of Long Blond Hair fame -- Mike Waggoner and Graham (Matchbox) Fenton, the Rockabilly Rebel, will.

Among the other headliners are Helsinki-born Harry Fontana, Vicky Tafoya and Lance Lipinsky, the Chicagoan making his first appearance in France.

And it's not just music that brings in the crowds:  A burlesque show -- and nobody does burlesque like the French -- and U.S./France car meet are also on the docket.

You may not be able to go this year, but this is an event you don't want to miss next year.

Proud to Support Tom Malinowski for Congress

March 7, 2018

Every single day, whether I want to be or not, I am reminded how important it is that Democrats gain control of the House of Representatives in November and check Donald Trump. I'm a lifelong New Jersey resident -- including ...
