David Brearley Girls Basketball Looks to 2015-2016 Season

KENILWORTH, NJ – David Brearley girls’ basketball opens its 2015-2016 season this week and TAP into Kenilworth caught up with new head Coach Jenna Vitale.

Vitale, an alumni and former player of David Brearley High School (2003-2007), has a goal-oriented philosophy and will look to improve on the Bear’s, 6-10, record last season.

Vitale said, “We set goals each week and we work on achieving those during practice.” At practice, the girls strive to improve individually as well as a team. “We want the girls to compete with confidence and intensity,” she stated.

In her first year, she will have some key returning players in, Erin O’Boyle, Jennah Hudeen, Brianna McCray, Sydney David and Zaria Underwood. Along with those veteran players, newcomers; Hannah Bondalo, Mikaela Berienfeld, Lynncia Hurley-Waring, Stephanie Lotfy, Judea Mendoza, and Shannon Wittrock will look to make an impact.

Looking forward Vitale is positive, “Our team is constantly encouraging one another on the court, the upper classmen have really taken the underclassmen under their wings, overall we are looking forward to a great season.”

The lady Bears begin their season Saturday Dec. 19 at, home when they take on Benedictine at 1:00 p.m..
