David Brearley Middle School Holds Annual Eighth Grade Awards Ceremony

KENILWORTH, NJ – David Brearley Middle School held its Annual Eighth Grade Awards for Achievement on June 1. Approximately 36 awards were given.

In addition, the top 10 students received yellow cords to wear at graduation from the David Brearley Middle School PTO.

Michael Graham and Michael Dotro were awarded the PTO Valedictorian and Salutatorian, respectively. In addition, they received the Margaret and Josette Klugman Memorial Award, presented to two students with the highest scholastic achievement in the four major subject areas.

Graham and Asiana Vi were presented with the GCMS Science Award, given to highly motivated science students. Dotro and Angelina Martello received the Kenilworth Bears Award, which was presented to the male and female athletes with the highest grade point average.

Ryley David: Tim Carbone Memorial Scholarship Award – Presented to the student who demonstrates integrity and good character and displays a helpful, caring attitude towards others - $50 Check

Karen Perez-Velazquez and Christian Ballaga: Rotary Club Award - presented to two students who were involved in the school community - $50 Gift Card each

Michael Dotro and Michael Graham: Margaret and Josette Klugman Memorial Award - presented to two students with the highest scholastic achievement in the four major subject areas - $75 check each

Jack Balwierczak, Robert Cox, Grace Devlin and Ryley David: P.B.A. Administrative Merit Award - presented to the four students who have been academically outstanding, cooperative and dependable - $50 Gift Card each

Michael Padula and Kylah Spranger: Kenilworth Volunteer Fire Department/Rescue Squad Award - presented to the two students who show good community or school service –$100 Check each

Salvatore Larosa: Kenilworth Senior Citizen Club Award - presented to the student who shows outstanding progress in computer literacy and has maintained average grades in all subjects - $25 Check

Katia Flosa and Jonathan Villalva: The Rose Emmert Scholarship Award - presented to two students who demonstrate the love of reading and learning - $50 Check each

Michael Dotro and Angelina Martello: The Kenilworth Bears Award - presented to two athletes with the highest scholastic average - $100 Check

Nicholas Borg, Emma Kessler and Madison Mulhall: Kenilworth Veterans Center/VFW Post 2230 Award - presented to three students who demonstrate interest in America’s Veterans - $100 Check each  

Ava Figueiredo and Ryan Rodrigues: Better Auto Care Inc. of Kenilworth Award - presented to two students who improved the most in the fourth marking period - $50 Check  

Joseph Conklin, Joseph Lardiere and Danilo Lopez: Soccer Club Award - presented to three soccer players with the highest average - $50 Check each

Casey Rafter: Kenilworth Education Association Award - presented to the student in recognition of outstanding good citizenship - $50 Check

Anthony Mazzeo: Council Leadership Award - presented to the student that has taken an active role in student council and all supporting activities throughout the school year - $50 Check

Gustavo Carreto and Jessica Skwarek: Recreation Commission Award - presented to two students with outstanding achievement in athletics and sportsmanship - $100 Check each  

Theresa Klemm and Julianna Rei: Jeanne S. DeFillipo Award for English & Literature - presented to the students who demonstrate enthusiasm for English and Literature and are compassionate and understanding towards others - $25 Check each

Nazeer Elias and Katrina Magtalas: David Brearley Scholar-Athlete Award - presented to two students athletes with a high scholastic average - $25 Check each

Logan Church: David Brearley Enthusiastic Scholar Award - presented to a student with a strong work ethic and love for learning - $25 Check

 Grace Devlin: The David Brearley Social Concerns Award - Presented to a student who realize the value of helping others despite his/her busy schedule and looks for nothing in return but the gratification of paying it forward - $100 check

Joseph Lardiere: PTO Good Sportsmanship Award in Memory of Stephanie Rothstein - presented to the student who demonstrated a willingness to serve their school and their fellow students in a friendly, trustworthy and sportsmanship like manner - $25 Gift Card
