ROSELLE, NJ - Work crews have begun the demolition and remodel of the Warinanco Skating Rink. Due to the extensive renovation, there will be no open skating for the 2015-2016 season. The only exception will be organized hockey programs. As the bull dozers and other machinery quickly demolish parts of the building, some on lookers said they felt a little sad as they spoke of their memories as kids, going to the rink on a regular basis.

“It’s a little sad, I have been going there for over 50 years,” said Roselle resident Roslyn Sandlin. Her husband Jeffery staring at the machines knocking down the walls and scooping up the debris stated, “Many of us went there as kids on Sunday afternoons and I remember always drinking hot chocolate, but I guess its out with the old and in with the new.”

The new state of the art facility is expected to be completely renovated by the fall of 2016 and will double in size and become an “open all year round” facility at the cost of $7 Million Dollars.

When the renovation is completed it will include a new state-of-the-art field house, room for parties, a food concession area, a video game room, a retail pro shop and skate rental room.

The new exterior seating area will be covered protecting patrons from the elements and the rink’s refrigeration building will be renovated.

A new ice rink floor, new bleachers and flooring surrounding the ice floor as well as new boards, glass and nets will also be installed along with a new stone covered gas fireplace that will run the height of the building and new team locker rooms will be included in the remodel.
