ELIZABETH, NJ - At a lunchtime press conference on Friday afternoon, Elizabeth Mayor Chris Bollwage gave details of the on going investigation in the explosion that left one young man dead, two critically injured and at least 10 others sent to local hospitals.

The explosion happened on the morning of November 11, at 1035 Magnolia Ave in Elizabeth. The 2.5-story house collapsed along with significant damage to the adjacent houses that will also have to be destroyed.

According to the Mayors comments, an on going investigation is in progress and a gas leak from a possible illegal hook up or a possible gas dyer that was never capped correctly could be the cause of the explosion, but they are still investigating. The Mayors comments in their entirety are below.
