KENILWORTH, NJ – Please see the latest update regarding Merck in the following statement from Mayor Linda Karlovitch.
Because of the importance of the previous Merck announcement to depart Kenilworth- it is important to keep our residents updated.
We have conducted discussions with Merck and their professionals. Remember as the owners Merck has control at this point over the property. The actual move could take two years or longer.
Prior to any marketing of the property, Merck will be providing us with the details of the announcement. When Merck originally relocated to Kenilworth previous officials worked with the company on what incentives were needed for the move to take place. We see an opportunity for a similar pharmaceutical operation to locate at the site. The prime location adjacent to major highways is a major selling point.
Let me emphasize there is no plan for the site having a use other than the campus setting as currently is utilized.
Merck has done well during their stay in Kenilworth. Merck’s valuation is roughly 27% ahead of market price.
Most importantly, the Borough Council and myself are unified in our belief that the residents be consistently kept abreast of all details over the coming years.
